After some initial sparks, the hope for sports betting in South Carolina in 2022 is officially gone after the closing of the states two-year legislative session with no discussion for a bill. In April a bill was created that would legalize retail and online sports betting, allowing 8 to 12 online sportsbooks to partner with the state but this bill sat in the committee for months never being discussed in public. Even though the bill was not passed, it’s certain another will be put in place in 2023 as the idea of sports betting in South Carolina continues to grow on peoples minds.
