Macau’s hotel and integrated resort operators are expecting a busy May Day Golden Week holiday with hotel occupancy rates expected to reach close to 90%, according to industry experts. The holiday is a traditional one in China and will occur from 1 May to 7 May, with the mainland enjoying a seven-day break. President of the Macau Travel Industry Council, Andy Wu, said that the holiday is likely to be the busiest week in Macau since the COVID-19 pandemic. Over half of the hotels, especially those owned by the six concessionaires, are fully booked, with visitor arrivals expected to exceed the highest single day tally since early 2020.
