BetMGM has significantly reduced its promotional spend. In May, during a period of relatively low sports-betting activity, BetMGM decreased its bonuses and promotional spend by over 40% compared to previous levels. This pullback by BetMGM goes against the trend observed in the rest of the market, where other operators increased their promotional spending during the same period. In Michigan, total market promotional spend rose by 19% year over year, in Pennsylvania it increased by 28%, and in Maryland, there was a 21% month-over-month increase. Arizona Department of Gaming Opens Applications for Three Sports Betting Licenses

The Arizona Department of Gaming has announced the opening of applications for three sports betting licenses in the state. While Arizona allows for a total of 20 licenses, only 18 were issued initially. With the closure of Fubo sportsbook, one tribal license and two commercial licenses for event locations are now available. Interested applicants can submit their applications from July 14th, with the application window running from August 1st to 15th. The license fees amount to $750,000, with an initial payment of $100,000 required upon application. Several operators, including PointsBet, bet365, Tipico, and Betr, are expected to apply for the licenses.
