Hard Rock International to Build Guitar-Shaped Hotel Tower on Las Vegas Strip

Hard Rock International has received approval from Clark County to build a new guitar-shaped hotel tower on the Las Vegas Strip. The tower, 37 floors in height, will hold 600 hotel rooms for guests and will replace the existing volcano location at The Mirage, which Hard Rock plans to phase out eventually. The new hotel will feature nearly 1.44 million square feet of space, including a casino floor, restaurants, and stores. Hard Rock International is known for its focus on music and currently owns and operates 238 cafes and rock shops, 34 hotels, and 13 casinos globally.

Jake Paul and Betr May Face Licensing Problems

Jake Paul, the co-founder of online sports book Betr, may face licensing problems in Ohio following a settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for violating securities laws. Paul was granted a provisional license as a “key sports gaming employee” in Ohio, but the settlement with the SEC will be among the factors considered when the Ohio Casino Control Commission decides whether to finalize Paul’s three-year license in the next few months. Ohio administrative rules require sports books to have licenses for all employees who are considered “persons in control,” and the commission has the authority to take action against noncompliance with Ohio sports gaming laws. It is unclear what impact this may have on the company.

North Carolina Sports Betting

The North Carolina House Finance and Judiciary committees have approved a bipartisan bill, HB347, that would legalize sports betting in the state. The bill would authorize both online and in-person sports betting and move to the Committee on Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House, the final stop before a floor vote. The legislation aims to capitalize on illegal sports betting that is already taking place in North Carolina, and it would make the state the 34th to legalize sports gambling in the US, as well as collecting tax revenues. The program will launch with a $14 million loan from the state’s lottery fund, which must be repaid within 36 months, and is estimated to generate between $8 million and $50 million in tax revenues […]
