The Arizona Department of Gaming has announced the opening of applications for three sports betting licenses in the state. While Arizona allows for a total of 20 licenses, only 18 were issued initially. With the closure of Fubo sportsbook, one tribal license and two commercial licenses for event locations are now available.
Interested applicants can submit their applications from July 14th, with the application window running from August 1st to 15th. The license fees amount to $750,000, with an initial payment of $100,000 required upon application.
Several operators, including PointsBet, bet365, Tipico, and Betr, are expected to apply for the licenses. PointsBet, in particular, is considered a likely candidate, as it narrowly missed out on a license during the initial application round through its partner, the Yavapai-Apache Nation. PointsBet was recently acquired by Fanatics.
