Gov. Larry Hogan is trying to push out online betting in Maryland fast. A letter sent to regulators by Hogan urges the Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC) to act quickly so online betting can be legal prior to the NFL season. This would be huge for Maryland as the NFL season is flooded with promotions from online sportsbooks such as DraftKings and FanDuel and Maryland would be sure to make money. It has been almost two years since voters approved sports betting and since then four other states have gone ahead and legalized online betting while Maryland continues to be delayed by SWARC as they look deeper into policies.
