Compared to its neighboring states, Ohio has been much more lax in their efforts to launch sports betting. Sports betting is set to launch on January 1, 2023 which is over a year from when the bill was signed by Gov. Mike DeWine on December 23, 2021. The slower pace of launch is surely to reduce profits as Ohio will miss a busy playoff season for the NBA and NHL as well as the football season and FIFA World Cup.
