Sports betting could be legal in North Carolina by football season
Legislative supporters say that sports betting could be legal in North Carolina by the start of the NFL football season. The bill to legalize sports betting passed a divided Senate, with supporters of the bill saying the bill should have enough support to pass the House during this years session. Sports gambling is currently legal in the state but only at the two Cherokee casinos. The new sports betting legislation would allow for up to 12 online sports gambling retailers to take wagers.
