New Yorkers bet $600 million in mobile sports gambling launch
The initial figure from the state gaming commission on Friday showed New Yorkers set records with $603 million in bets. The wagers from football, basketball, hockey and other sports generated $48.2 million in gross gambling revenue. The state averaged $86.2 million per day in wagers, this is over twice as much as New Jersey did when they broke the monthly handle at $1.3 billion in October. With NFL playoffs going on now, New York’s success is expected to continue.
